How it works ?

PERSPECTIVE :

Now imagine a limited edition based on timeline instead of numbers, continuously renewed for music lovers and financially sustainable for the artists.
It goes a little something like this :

  • A bandcamp exclusive label
  • Music available only via subscription
  • Subscriptions' incomes shared between artists
  • Subscriptions' incomes payed monthly to the artists

To do the (simplified) math :

Let's suppose 100 artists bring 20 of their followers per country to a subscription (based on 36 countries of OCDE).
So we have 72 000 subscribers (100 x 20 x 36).

Let's take a fair Bandcamp monthly subscription of 5 €.
So it's (72 000 x 5) : 360 000 € income/month.

To be sustainable, an organisation should spend more or less 1/5 of its global revenu, so let's take project expenses for 70 000 € (15% Bandcamp fee included).
Net income is (360 000 - 70 000) : 290 000 €.

Now we have : 290 000 € shared between 100 artists.

So it is (290 000 / 100) : 2 900 € / month / artist.

We see it here a virtuous triangulation :
on one hand, music lovers have access to exclusive and dedicated music composed specially for the project. On the second hand, music makers get a regular monthly income which takes place alongside their already existing income environment.

If this project does not limit itself musically speaking, it's got a love affair with undergound dance music.
